INSP. PAT DIETRICH (NAMED IN LAWSUIT) TO RETIRE
The Waterloo Region Record carried the following story yesterday titled "Superintendent named in lawsuit to retire". The Superintendent was named as a police officer who took advantage of his position in regards to his treatment of some female officers. One female officer in particular has made serious accusations regarding his conduct towards her. This recently announced retirement effective yesterday was unexpected and will only serve to give even greater credibility to the Plaintiffs in the lawsuit and to the Affidavits recently filed in support of the lawsuit.
The other astounding item in this article is the fact that the Police Union (WRPA) earlier this month filed a grievance against the Waterloo Region Police Service (WRPS). Hoo boy does that ever smell in regards to this Union's (oops - Association) credibility. The lawsuit was filed last June. Those police officers have stated that they went to the Waterloo Region Police Association (WRPA) over a period of years and received little to no assistance. The Affidavits were filed in December 2017. Then and only then, after waiting to see the fallout from the lawsuit, does the Police Union get off their backsides and actually file a grievance. I feel that the stench of corruption is permeating. Union President Mark Egers is saying all the right things in yesterday's article. Filing the grievance however is decades late.Tom Galloway the Chair of the Waterloo Region Police Services Board and a regional councillor advised that the board does not get involved in employee matters or with union/management business. From what I can see the board pretty much has a hands off policy on just about everything dealing with the Waterloo Regional Police. Whether this is entirely of their own choosing or due to provincial government legislation I am not sure. Regardless it must change or otherwise get rid of this useless taxpayer funded board.

160 million to split between 6 to 12 officers I thought grose inflamed lawsuits were not allowed in Canada. If a citizen goes to victory of crime the maximum allowed is $40.000 so that means if a citizen is raped disfigured she would have a cap on what she can receive from victims of crime .so if you do the math it should be less then 40.000 x6 officers or 12 officers witch ever the case is Seems like these lady officers are tryn to win a lottery over what appears to be merely sexual comments extra. SO HOW DOES $160 MILLION figure seem even abit fare or justifiable when a lady can only go to victims of crime and be awarded up to 40.000 maximum in only severe cases is the highest awarded...Seems these officers that are filing the lawsuit are the biggest criminals asking for a rediculas amount of money when they should only be awarded 20.000 to 40 000 at the most and that highest amount is awarded to victims who were severely injured disfigured ....we're is citizens equal rights still goes to show you how unfair our system is and that police officers are above the law . I read in the news a car was found to have a police vest guns nines. And was said by police these items get used in break and enters.Seriously..these items are used by home invaders to rob drug dealers kicking in the door I'm middle night yelling police so nobody moves or tries to grab a gun and shoot a home invader why the first criminal entering a home wears a vest labeled POLICE.Its a fact these items get used in home invasions so I hope this person they arrested gets charged with conspiracy to commit a robbery bit then one needs proof .Maybe if you look into this person closer you will see links to home invasions and robberies..Seems our police need to warn public about the rize in home invasions instead of down playing that there are gangs with guns and criminals with guns on every block almost.Yet a citizen to this day can't shoot back when being shot at or you can be charged with attempted murder or murder if you accidently kill a criminal while fighting to save you're life.I hope if there's a war Canada changes its law and gives a citizen the power to use force against a criminal or a terrorist if not we truly don't have a right to life the same as a police officer does.already alot people are saying the amount of money these lady officers are asking for is criminal and exceeds the amount for there feelings being hurt...
ReplyDeleteAs it is a class action lawsuit any money ordered by the courts would be distributed amongst the class of Plaintiffs which is all the female police officers, past and present. I'm assuming we are talking about hundreds of officers therefore. Secondly this lawsuit possibly could go on for years and years with the lawyers literally making millions of dollars. Highly unlikely that any individual is going to be walking away with a huge payout. Likely a negotiated settlement will occur a few years down the road.
ReplyDeleteOnly 6 officers filed in this lawsuit not hundreds although hundreds of complaints got swept under table as they do internal investigations and rarely a officer is charged. 167 million and presently 6 female officers will split what's awarded minus lawyer fees at end of the day it's all tax payers dollars a verry grose amount no victom should get more than $40.000 my whole point that's the most a canadian can get through Victoms of crime for sexual offenses like comments doubt one be awarded 10.000.whole problem these are public servants . suing our city seems to be no cap on city amounts. And we have a police chief who hasn't stepped up to protect fellow officers or the public.A female officer has the right to arrest a person who committed a sexual offense and have them charged even if it's a police officer they can be arrested and charged .Sad haven't herd of any arrests, charges ,apologies from chief only denial.and down playing.a real police chief Would want every member of his family safe and complaints dealt with at once I'd had the officer apologize immediately 30 day suspension no pay 2ND OFFENSE FIRED..zero tolerance when it comes to sexual offenses weather it's a comment or criminal offence the chief needs to address every complaint seriously for saftey of staff and public to avoid escalading up to a inflamed lawsuit.
